New Year's Honours List 2017

The New Year’s Honours List 2017 has been announce this evening to recognise a range of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom who exemplify the very best of our nation.
With 1197 people receiving an award, from local legends, to global superstars, to young exemplars, this year’s honours are the most diverse yet.
In the almost one hundred year history of the Order of the British Empire, there has never been a greater number of individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
This year’s youngest recipient is 17 year old Jeremiah Emmanuel who is a role model Army Cadet, as he found social justice charity, One Big Community, to help youth organisations to engage with decision makers.
Following Team Great Britain’s record breaking success at the Olympics and Paralympics in Rio, Andy Murray has received a knighthood for his services to tennis and charity, alongside Mo Farrah who has been awarded a knighthood for services to athletics.
Jessica Ennis-Hill will also be receiving the honour of dame hood this year for her services to athletics.
Further receiving honours this year are some renowned names known in entertainment.
Liverpudlian-born comedian, Ken Dodd, has received a knighthood for his services to entertainment and to charity after 60 years of warming the hearts of Britain with his golden comedy.
Ex-Spice Girl and current fashion designer, Victoria Beckham, will be receiving an OBE for her work over the years.
People who have worked with such ambition in science and technology, sport, industry, health, education and law and order have received many honours for 2017.
