About Me

An aspiring broadcast journalist with much valuable experience behind me.

A journalist needs to be determined, flexible and outgoing, otherwise the competition will get too tough. After years of developing my journalistic skills, I have definitely acquired these three traits, but not to my full potential. However, I am eager to succeed.

Delivering news to the world has become a phenomenon. Back when news was through word of mouth or in print, society's knowledge and imagination was very subjected. Now, however, news is everywhere: television, radio, online, posters, flyers, signs, advertisements, social media, phones, even watches deliver news to us. What better time to be a journalist?

Work Experience

Work Experience

2012 - Today

I have worked voluntarily at my local radio station, Wirral Radio, to not only gain valuable journalistic experience, but to also deliver news to the youths of my area. Now covering the whole of Wirral, North Wales, Liverpool and Chester, I am able to broaden my horizons even further. When I started in 2012, it was a small community radio called 7 Waves, but now it has successfully taken off to be an influential radio station for North West England. The people here have provided me with so many unique opportunities, from training others in the world of radio, to gaining interviews with top artists at festivals. I have developed my confidence and enthusiasm in journalism vigorously since I started here, and I don't intend on stopping any time soon.

2016 - Today

Currently I am working for numerous media organisations through my NCTJ Course. So far, I have covered events and local news stories for the Liverpool and Wirral Echo, Purple Revolver and The Guide, Liverpool. Consisting of organising interviews, seeking for stories and writing articles, the past few months have been extremely jam-packed.

Summer 2015

After a successful application to ITV's annual Work Inspiration Scheme, I experienced a spectacular two weeks at the ITV headquarters in Salford Quays. The scheme consisted of working with production teams, animation teams, camera crews and news journalists, it was most definitely the most influential two weeks i have experienced so far. I had the opportunity to write, record, film and edit a short clip for a Coronation Street episode, which allowed me to broaden my journalistic and creative skills.

Summer 2014

The dream is to become a national News Broadcaster, and what better way to have this experience than shadowing a BBC North West Tonight Journalist. Andy Gill gave me the opportunity to follow his day-to-day job as a news broadcaster, from searching and writing up your own stories to recording and editing it in the back of a technologically advanced van for it then to be aired that evening! It was everything that I hoped to experience and more!
